William McAllister has been a member of the Great Books Discussion group for 18 years. After earning a PhD in chemistry, he had a career as a research chemist both in the U.S. and Europe resulting in 17 patents. He was the recipient of the Fall 2012 FILL Instructor Appreciation Award.

William is married, has two sons, four daughters and six grandchildren.

Great Books

This group discusses classics of religion, psychology, theory, and other fields. In past semesters we have discussed such works as the Bible, Montaigne, Freud, and Rousseau.
